The Jamesport Fire Department responded to a mutual aid request from the Cutchogue Fire Department on January 10th, 2024, at approximately 10:50 AM, for a residential structure fire. The incident took place in a two-story private dwelling, where the exterior electrical panel ignited, subsequently spreading to the interior of the structure on both the first and second floors.

Swift action was taken by the Jamesport Fire Department, which dispatched Rescue 6-1-4 as the assigned apparatus for the Rapid Intervention Team (RIT) response. This incident marked the first alarm assigned to the Jamesport Fire Department's newly reinstated RIT assignment.

Fortunately, due to the coordinated efforts of all fire departments on scene, the fire was successfully contained to specific areas on each floor, resulting in no significant structural loss. The fire was brought under control by Cutchogue Fire Command at approximately 12:30 PM.

We are pleased to report that there were no reported injuries or casualties during this incident. The professionalism and efficiency demonstrated by our personnel, coupled with the successful deployment of the newly reinstated RIT assignment, underscore the commitment of the Jamesport Fire Department to ensuring the safety and well-being of our communites.
